if it weren't for my dear husband, there are many days when i would eat nothing but crackers, chips, and popcorn. or sonic, but i won't go into that right now. anyway, he is a really good cook, and he spends a lot of time in the kitchen making sure we have delicious, nutritious, fun meals to eat. however, he also has a full-time job--actually, it is more than full-time, it is sometimes double-full-time--and i feel awful about the days he works until 8pm and still makes us dinner.
so i practically cried with joy when i found the new banquet crock pot classics frozen meal kits in my local grocery store. finally, i could "whip up" a real meal for my family. i know--it's a simple thing to just put some stuff in a crock pot and hit "play"--but these are complete meals, they make 5 servings, and they are less than $6.00 a kit. the biggest problem is the sodium--it's pretty high--but i compared it to my favorite sonic menu and the crock pot classics are not so bad after all. and it's one pot cooking, ready to go when we get home--you can't get much easier than that.
there are six varieties, so far we've had the beef stew and the chicken with rice and they were both delicious, literally just like homemade, because none of the ingredients is precooked. tonight, we're having the beef stroganoff--i figure with a can of green peas, some soft music in the background, and some pretty plates, it will almost feel like a bistro at home. that is, if bistros have a layer of dust on the furniture.
